47% of Russians agree that "gays and lesbians should enjoy the same rights as other citizens, " according to a poll conducted by the Levada Center, a Russian research organization. (43% disagreed.) The poll shows the highest support of Russians for the LGBT community in Russia in 14 years.
However, another poll by the organization suggests that many Russians still deem same-sex couples least wanted as neighbours.
Worse, on July 21st, LBGT activist Yelena Grigoryeva was found dead -- stabbed and strangled -- around her home in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Ms Grigoryeva received threat letters from "Pila", a radical homophobic group, before her death.
It seems like a rainbow is yet to be appeared in Russia.
