Park Chung-hee

One of the most controversial presidents throughout the history of Korea, Park Chung-hee who served as the president of Korea from 1963 to 1979 often gets credit for Korea's rapid industrialisation and economic growth during the 60s and 70s, also known as the "Miracle on the Han River (a river that divides Seoul into north and south).


On the other hand, a significant portion of Korean people criticise him for his dictatorship and authoritarianism.


He was assassinated by Kim Jae-gyu, his closest friend and right-hand man, in 1979.
